Karina Rufino is a native of Tyler, Texas and daughter of Mexican immigrants. She is a proud first-generation graduate from The University of Virginia’s College at Wise. Currently, Karina serves as the Coordinator of Diversity Initiatives in the Office for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at UVA Wise and pursuing her Master’s degree in International Higher Education. She is committed in creating a diverse and inclusive space for underrepresented students in college. Moving forward, shehopes to increase the number of minorities enrolled in higher education by using her identities as a LatinXfemale and first-generation Mexican American. ¡Si se puede!
